Khara Croswaite Brindle
Member of the Alpha class! As a founding member Khara was in SDO from 2006 to 2009 when she graduated. While in SDO, Khara served as Social Chair from 2006-2008 and as President during the 2008-2009 school year.
Khara’s favorite SDO memory was beach retreats, which were full of good food, activities, and adventures! To Khara, SDO provided connection, community, and confidence in herself as an emerging leader! She chose SDO because women in science meant a great fit for her personal and professional goals.
Currently Khara is a mental health and financial therapist supporting colleagues and small business professionals with workaholism, perfectionism, anxiety, and burnout. She’s also a consultant, TEDx speaker, professor, and published author. Her mission is to provide content and services to mental health professionals that spark curiosity and possibilities in alignment with professional growth and work-life balance. Khara’s favorite part of her work is helping others feel inspired, seen, and supported in their growth. She believes that shaping the next generation of therapists is very rewarding as a part-time professor. Khara shared that the hardest part of her work is, at times, managing vicarious trauma and burnout. A piece of advice from Khara for individuals interested in the same career path as her is to engage in mentorship! Lean into discomfort and approach this career with what she calls the 3 C’s: compassion, curiosity, and critical thinking.
